Long distance relationships come with a lot of unique challenges – one of them being how to keep conversations fresh. Some days, conversations can flow easily; on other days, it feels like trying to talk is impossible. If you’ve ever found yourself at a loss on what to say to your long distance partner, don’t worry. It is completely normal, and you are not alone! Trying to think of conversation starters can be hard!
To try and combat the struggle of finding topics to talk about, I’ve decided to start to compile my own lists of things to talk about. These topics range from everyday conversations to something a little bit deeper. Consider this the first post of many with 50 conversation topics to help keep your bond strong despite the miles.
Everyday Life Questions
- What was the best part of your day?
- What was something small that annoyed you today?
- What’s a random thought that you had today that you didn’t tell to anyone?
- If today had a theme song, what would it be?
- What is something new you learned about recently?

Dreams and Goals
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
- What is a goal that you are working on right now?

Fun Topics

Interactive Questions
- Let’s play 20 Questions!
- Let’s try writing a funny story together, one sentence (or word) at a time.
- Describe your day using only emojis, and I’ll try to guess what happened.
- Let’s create a bucket list together!
- Let’s share 5 super random facts rapid-fire style – no thinking! I’ll go first.

Being long distance can be hard, but it doesn’t have to be! Learning how to have conversations with each other is key and will help you feel closer to your partner. Whether you’re having deep conversations or keeping things light, you have to be able to talk! Hopefully these conversation topics will help you keep the communication going.
