With 2024 now here, I have decided to embark on a new adventure. This year I want to review different media that revolve around the topic of long distance relationships. To start off this series, I plan to read at least one fiction book per month around the topic. I would like to welcome you all to the newly minted LDR Book Club which reads long distance relationship fiction (and eventually non-fiction) each month.

For such a common experience for many in today’s digital landscape, it’s something that’s not talked about nearly as much as it should be. For example, while it’s not a particularly extensive or exhaustive search, a quick look through the Library of Congress’s catalog shows only 220 titles with the subject of long distance relationships. If you backtrack and search for fiction specifically, this number drastically decreases. This is even worse when you consider the fact that different volumes and editions also count as individual listings, making the number even harder to track down.

Of course this doesn’t include the thousands of listings that one can find on Amazon from independent authors as, but these are primarily non-fiction books. There are fiction books found amongst these searches, but you have to do some digging to find long distance relationship fiction specifically.

My goal is to start with traditionally published works first, but if I can pull in some finds from Amazon or another website, I’ll do that, too. I would love to write more than one review a month, but we all know how life can get sometimes!
